During Direction NA Conference in Florida last week, Marko Perisic, General Manager of Dynamics SMB, announced that the new name of Dynamics NAV will be Dynamics 356 “Tenerife” instead of “Business Edition”. Focus will be on the cloud, although on-prem option is equally available, alongside more new and exciting offerings.
“Tenerife” came as a surprise to all attendees, but it will be available exclusively for partners and it will be white-labeled. Microsoft discontinues NAV, and since “Tenerife” is just a code name, as soon as there is a final release, the product name will most likely change as well.
The new model will no longer be limited by customer size (Business or Enterprise variants) and complexity and it will be finally a customizable solution meaning pay-as-you-go. This is good news for customers as they will now be able to digitally transform their companies across all business channels (marketing, sales, operations, etc.) at their own pace. This way, if a customer needs more features, they will pay only for what they will actually use.
Dynamics 365 “Tenerife” is going to have the full NAV functionality. In addition, Microsoft will offer a business application platform for ISVs (Intependant Software Vendors) which will enable qualified partners to offer vertical cloud solutions directly to customers to meet their specific needs.
According to Waldo’s, some additional improvements on Tenerife also include:
- Switch Rolecenter – change roles and companies without sign in/sign out
- Import Data – import data from quickbooks, documents such as invoices, balances, etc.
- New Notifications – run more smoothly
- New interactions with excel – edit, add lines from within excel, just like how accounts like it
- Invite Accountant – grant access to the accountant to the system and select from a list of companies providing accounting services
- Personalize – add, remove, replace fields any way you want
- API’s – 44 pre-defined API’s which can be used to connect third-party system to NAV
- Accountant hub – allow accountants to connect to their clients
- Bookings – allows online appointment registration
- Integration with Outlook
